Tuesday 19/8 Arriving finally in Barcelona

The time approached 6am and we made our way into the station, finally open for us. We went through security and onto the train. It was nice to be able to sit in a comfy seat and just fall asleep. I slept all the way through to Barcelona.

We got in and took the metro to our nearest stop, Badal. We walked from there to our hostel, a nice little friendly place with the amenities of a major chain hostel. The staff were very friendly and made an effort to know all the guests names. Nice. We got our stuff off our backs but the room wasnt ready, so we went around the corner for a coffee and tortilla baguette. Very tasty but way too filling.

We went back and got into our room, and had showers. We then took a lot of time catching up with blogs (and I should point out that a few days later we still aren´t caught up yet!). After a few hours our eyes were blurry and fingers sore, and we went for a walk into the city.

We walked east through the city, making our way towards the main shopping and commercial areas. On the way we stopped in at some stores, buying pastries and drinks, and some veggie sausages to snack on. When we reached Rambla Catalunya we went into a huge bookshop where we found ourselves a copy of the TimeOut Barcelona guide, which we wanted to get a hold of for all that great nightlife and eating tips.

We sat for a coffee nearby and all had various coffees with alcohol in them. I had a cointreau one and the girls both had with baileys. Interesting drink. The service was kind of crappy.

Across the street from us was one of the Gaudi houses, so of course we ran across and endulged in some photo taking.

We caught the metro back and went back to Badal. We hit up the local supermarket for self-catering supplies and then went back, ate and used the computers some more. We all had an early night, desperately needing the sleep after the last few days.
