Saturday 16/8 Pukkelpop day 3

We started the third day with Black Kids, who I was really wanting to see live. They were pretty good. The songs that we all knew were a lot of fun to dance to together, but they weren´t the greatest set I had seen at Pukkel.

Once again we had a long break during the day. So, what did we do? We went and got Ben and Jerry´s icecream, vanilla toffee crunch style!

We headed back and saw Yeasayer. I was really looking forward to them but they were very disappointing. There was a combination of bad sound at the stage they were on, and them trying to do live dancy versions of their stuff, that really took away the beauty of their songs. The recorded stuff had so much more, and I was expecting a set more like the Dodos, maybe with some accoustic and other instruments, instead of just drums and synth.

We had to rush then to get to MGMT. Alas, it was completely and utterly packed out, even out of the tent stage and onto the field. We couldn´t even get close, but we could hear from far far away some of the tunes we wanted to.

We went instead to the wierd Petite Bazzar area where there was a tent with boards and spray paint, for people to make art that would be auctioned off for charity later. How could we refuse? We all painted ourselves and wrote messages on it.

We went out of the festival grounds at this point to find food. We got some pizza, very delicious, and bought some Red Bull outside the place. We tried to get a can each back inside but I got caught out and had to skull the whole thing down or else leave throw it in the trash. Heh, so two cans of Red Bull later...

We made our way to Bloc Party where we got a spot way on the side, next to a group of loud Flemish guys and also a group of Aussie girls. The set was fairly good. We danced a bit and got into it. I hadn´t seen them live before, and they did impress.

Afterwards we struggled to get a better spot for Sigur Ros who were on the same stage. We slid along the barrier at the front but didn´t really have a good view since the stage was constructed really badly and had bits that stuck out, blocking view. Sigur were amazing though, really.

We ran over to the Chateau after and caught the last few songs of M83. Yay, we heard Don´t Save Us From the Flames, one of my favourites. After them we stayed to hear Crystal Castles but I was suddenly exhausted and decided to head back to the night.
