Monday 1/9 Exploring Malaga

We slept in a bit, and Em made cheese omelettes for us for breakfast. We headed out and walked around.

The church that we were meant to find, to find our hostel

We made our way down Victoria and past the Alcazaba that we passed the day before. We looked into it a bit but it was fairly unimpressive, and we had just seen the Alhambra in Granada, so anything else wasn´t great, just by comparison.

The Roman alcazaba...not too interesting

We also passed the octopus thing again, and this time I took some closer shots. Why would anyone build a random sculpture of an octopus? And, why would it be on top of excavated Roman ruins? Who knows.

Attacked by the octopus!!

We made our way to where the water was, and walked along the main street towards the large shopping mall streets. They were quite cool because they had shade cloths fixed high above, that cast a nice cool shadow over the passers by. I thought it was one of those things about the culture that adapted from the environment. Very cool.

The shaded pedestrian malls

We walked around and found somewhere to draw out some cash, since we were both a tad low. Emma had her blue umbrella out, shading herself from the heat of the day.

Emma, hiding away from the heat

We went to find icecream since we had a large brunch, and realy...because we wanted icecream. We found a place and we got a half litre tub. It was very good value, and we were making a sort of lunch/arvo snack out of it. We got mango and passionfruit. Wow, very awesome. It also came with some biscuit sticks.

That evening we just chilled again, and escaped the late afternoon heat from outside.
