We got up and out to Sol where we would go on a walking tour. The company (New Europe) that ran those great walking tours in Amsterdam was the one that we were taking. Luckily, we got the witty British guide instead of another American with a piercing voice. The tour started off at the bear statue.
The tour was great. It gave a really good overview of the history of Madrid and Spain, and all those great little cultural things too. He was really amazing. He talked for nearly four solid hours and he was very funny and had a good base of knowledge to pass onto us newbies.
Mid-tour we stopped at a sandwich restaurant/bar. It was a chain restaurant and we had actually seen it in other places before but had never gone in. It also had a slight local charm to it, not like the big American chains. We ordered seven little rolls between Emma and I, including two chicken, a tuna, a prawn, a duck, a tortilla and a salmon. There were topped with corn chips. Very yum.
The tour covered really everything that one needed to go see in Madrid, or at least the stuff that you don't need to pay to get into. We ended the tour at a statue of Cervantez, their second favourite person.
After the tour we wanted chocolate and churros, so we went back to the place we had gone to with Dani on that crazy late night in Madrid earlier on. Funny enough, our tour guide actually pointed it out as a noteworthy place to visit. It was just as good as I remembered it.
For dinner we went and got Chinese from a nearby place. It was packed with msg but it was delicious. It was exactly what we all wanted.
