Thursday 19/6 Top Deck day 5 – Mykonos

I only woke up about 1pm due to the night before. Emma had been up, I think, for a few hours beforehand and had already made some valuable contributions to the day, like washing, eating and stuff.

When I was finally up and washed and dressed we decided to go into town. I still needed a shot glass from Mykonos and we also wanted to find some place to use the net. We caught a bus in from the hotel and walked through a bit. I did find my shot glass but we didn't really find anywhere to use wifi, and definitely nowhere to sit in the shade for it.

So, we walked back up through the main street to the bus stop and went into a place that claimed to be cheap internet. The prices were actually pretty good. We paid nine euros for four hours of internet, connecting up Ozy with a cable and uploading photos and blogs. It was hot and we got most of what we wanted up.

There was a bookshelf there with one of those leave a book – take a book things happening. We were flicking through a selected Canterbury Tales book while the other person was interneting. Very interesting.

We headed back to the hotel and chilled for a bit. A plan was apparently in place to go to a bar called the Scandinavian after getting some food in town. It coincided with our plans so we waited till it was the right time and then we went into town. When we got there we weren´t too hungry so the whole group went onto the bar.

We seemed to have an upstairs room booked out for the first hour or so of the night. There were also free shots all around involved, including at least one sex on the beach round. Tasty. The music was dismal. Slow RnB songs that you could not possibly dance to. There were only a couple of those fun dance songs the whole time we were there. The only song that we requested which the DJ actually had was Dirty Harry by the Gorillaz (we just asked for Gorillaz). A minute in and the song had cleared the dance floor, leaving only Emma and I having a good time moving to the music. Half way through the song the DJ cut it short and played something else to get people back dancing. Sigh.

We´d had enough after a short while later and went around town to some other bars that Niki had recommended to us that day. Bit too much of an older crowd at them.

We were quite tired at that point, from the night before and that day (doing nothing at all, heh) so we made our way back up through the narrow streets and up to the bus stop. We caught the last bus back to Platis Gialos, then went to bed.
