We most definitely overslept. So much for trying to catch a train at around 9am! We only got to the station at about 10 and then caught a 10:15 through to Milan. Since Bologna is really a regional town (well, its on the regional train service) it doesn´t go through to all the major cities. That was okay though as it gave us a bit of a break off the train.
Milan station was lovely. The building itself reminded me of the Paris train station, with the big round metal roof. We had about an hour to kill till the next regional train heading out to Torino. We waited in a queue at the ticket office to find out if we needed to reserve or if there was an earlier train. Ours was the next train leaving in that line. The room where the ticket offices were was very nicely decorated, with carvings on the walls which were stone and not brick On both sides there were depictions of the 12 zodiac signs.
It was around this time that Dani let us know that she would be coming to Paris with us! How absolutely fantastic is that. We waited around and then jumped on the train to Torino. The door near where we were sitting was rattling, gaining volume from resonance of the train vibtrations. It was very very annoying and loud. We tried to put folded up newspapers in to stop it, which worked, but they fell out when people openned the door.
When we arrived in Torino we couldn't find a tourist info desk at the station. This was because it was shut on weekdays. What the hell?! Anyway, the sign said that there was one open in a Piazza Castello, so we decided to walk up that way to find out about transportation to our hostel. We walked for a while, the beautiful city around us, and hot humid air making it rather unpleasant. By the time we reached Piazza San Carlo it had started to rain and we were getting very tied. It was already 4pm or so and we just wanted to get settled in so we could head out and do thngs.
We wouldn't usually do it but we hailed a taxi and got a ride to our place which was a fair way down one of the main streets. By the time we got in it had really started to rain, it was getting late, and we finally had free wifi access. Soooo, we stayed in for the night, ate some canned food and caught up with things that needed catching up with (with the inclusion of watching some streaming tv shows). We also spoke to Dani on skype to try and organise dates and things.
We also saw the Watchmen trailer. Oh. My. God. That is all.
